How much sun exposure if needed for adequate vitamin D production?

According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 5-50 minutes of sun exposure, particularly between 10 am and 4 pm, at least twice per week to the face, arms, hands, and legs without sunscreen usually leads to sufficient vitamin D synthesis.
